Tip #21 Why Your Calendary Helps
Share
The Calendary is the most important tool for anyone with an NDIS plan. Why? Because people aren't filing cabinets. None of us can remember every detail over a 1, 2, or 3-year NDIS plan period, but the system often expects us to.
The Calendary is a simple paper tool - half a month on each page - that gives you space to write down everything that happens with your NDIS supports. It's better than digital tools because you can't lose it when your computer crashes.
Here's why it's so useful:
When support workers come to help you, have them sign in with their arrival and leaving times. This creates solid proof of when services actually happened. If there's ever a question about services months later, you won't need to try to remember - you'll have it written down.
The Calendary helps you spot patterns too. When your plan review comes up and you're asked about how your supports worked over the past year, you can show actual records instead of trying to remember.
Use your Calendary to write down all your NDIS appointments, when equipment arrives, and every conversation with NDIS staff. Write down when you sent in important forms too.
If you ever get a debt notice or need to appeal an NDIS decision about something that happened months or years ago, your Calendary will help you. Instead of relying on memory, you'll have dates, times, and information to back up your case.
In the NDIS world where you're expected to remember everything (but can't), the Calendary is your memory on paper.
Most of the remaining tips will show you how to use the Calendary, step by step so keep reading the blog. You are welcome to use these tips with a different tool you are using but we can't guarantee that tool will be as good as the Calendary when you need it most.
