Tip #42 Recording Achievements
Share
Let's celebrate the wins – big, small, and everything in between! Recording your achievements isn't about boasting (though a little self-congratulation never hurt anyone). It's about building a treasure trove of evidence for when your NDIS plan gets reassessed.
What Counts as an Achievement?
Here's the thing – achievements come in all shapes and sizes. Maybe you:
- Attended three physiotherapy appointments in a row (gold star!)
- Successfully navigated a phone call without hanging up in frustration
- Tried a new activity or skill
- Made progress toward a goal (even baby steps count)
- Had fewer hospital visits this year
Don't dismiss the "small stuff" – independence looks different for everyone, and every step forward matters. Look at your goals and think about what counts to you as being important.
Your Trusty Calendary
Use your Calendary as your personal achievement diary cross calendar. Jot down those moments when things go right, skills improve, or goals get ticked off. Think of it as collecting golden nuggets for your next NDIS discussion.
Plan Reassessment Magic
When reassessment time rolls around, you'll have concrete examples of progress and outcomes. Instead of scrambling to remember what happened six months ago, you'll have a detailed record showing how your supports are working. Just think about that for a moment and imagine the difference between needing to remember stuff and having a lot written down. Wow! That's a huge difference when there is a lot at stake.
Your achievements tell your story – make sure it's well documented!
