#15 Track Goals

Goals are a big part of your NDIS plan. They help you and your support team know what you want to achieve. Having clear goals helps everyone understand if your supports are working well for you.

Tracking your goals isn't just about seeing progress—it's also about spotting barriers that might be getting in your way. When you keep good records, you can see patterns more easily. Maybe you notice you make more progress on days when you feel well-rested, or perhaps certain activities are harder at specific times of day.

The Calendary is a really helpful tool for this. It's like a big calendar and diary combined. It comes in A3 size (which is quite large) and shows half a month on each page. This gives you lots of space to write down not just what you did, but also how you felt and what made things easier or harder.

With the Calendary, you can mark good days and challenging days. You might write "felt tired—hard to focus" on some days or "had great support—achieved more" on others. This information is valuable when reviewing your plan.

Here are some other easy ways to track your goals and barriers:

Use your Calendary as a sign-in book for service providers. Have them write their name, the date, and time they visited. This helps you keep track of who came when.

Record both small and large successes in your Calendary. Even tiny improvements are worth noting as they add up over time.

Schedule regular reviews of your goals with your NDIS Support Coordinator or OT. Mark these important meetings in your Calendary.

When you face barriers, write them down and note what solutions you tried. This helps you see what works and what doesn't.

Remember to regularly review your goals with the NDIS to make sure they're still relevant to you. Your needs and wants might change over time, and your goals should change too.

Understanding barriers is just as important as celebrating progress. When you know what's getting in your way, you and your support team can find better solutions. Remember that every step forward counts, no matter how small!
